If you encounter issues with the Avalara integration in ProcureDesk, there are two primary methods to troubleshoot the problem: reviewing errors on the invoice screen and checking detailed logs. Here's how to use both methods:

Method 1: Review Errors on the Invoice Screen

  1. Open the Invoice:

    • Navigate to the invoice where the issue occurred.

  2. Attempt to Calculate Tax:

    • Click on the Avalara button to calculate tax.

  3. Check for Errors:

    • If there is an issue, an error message will appear at the top of the invoice screen, highlighted in red.

    • The message will provide specific details about the error, helping you identify and address the problem directly within the transaction.

Method 2: Access Detailed Logs for In-Depth Troubleshooting

  1. Log in as an Admin:

    • Admin access is required to view the detailed logs.

  2. Go to the Logs Section:

    • From the Admin Panel, navigate to Logs.

  3. Select the Avalara Tab:

    • Under the Logs section, click on the Avalara tab to view logs related to the Avalara integration.

  4. Review Log Details:

    • The logs will show information such as:

      • Transaction Endpoint: The specific transaction that was called.

      • Timestamp: When the transaction was created.

      • Status: The current status of the transaction.

      • Response Time: How long the transaction took.

  5. View Transaction Details:

    • On the right-hand side, click on the eye icon to view the details of a specific transaction.

    • This will show the exact request sent to Avalara and the response received, including all data exchanged.

  6. Analyze the Data:

    • Use the detailed information to troubleshoot and understand any issues with the integration, such as incorrect data being sent or errors in the response.
